FITTING HOOF BOOTS:
You will need the length and width of your horses hooves individually to measure correctly for hoof boots.
The width is the easy part, you measure across the hoof at the widest part. When measuring for your hoof boots, it is a good idea to chalk out the length measurement, with a piece of chalk. Make a line across the section of the hoof at the buttress line and then measure the length from the buttress line to the toe, the buttress line is the furthest weight bearing point where the hoof wall ends. Measuring the width is easy, you measure across the widest part of the hoof. You take measurements for boots after a fresh trim and then keep your horses feet regularly trimmed. The guide is for healthy hooves. The game plan changes slightly for hooves that are a bit different ie underrun heels, you would need to imagine where the weight bearing process takes place on the heels.
Fitting Hoof Boots
You can measure your horse’s feet, hire the fit kits of the boots you like, to find exactly the right boot for your horse, then hire them and if they suit, you can buy them.
